Pelvic health physical therapy offering in home appointments to fit your life so you can get back to owning you! What to expect at your first visit: I will provide a portable table (It even has a hole for the pregnant bellies so that you can be on your stomach while I treat any dysfunctions or pain related to your back, sacrum, piriformis, etc.!), linens, blanket, bolster, and all other necessary items pertaining to assessment and treatments. If your space is limited, no problem, we can work around that! Pick a place in your home that will allow you to be the most comfortable and relaxed, we can do the entire visit in one place or two if you prefer to talk at your dining table or couch before starting treatment in another room. Please do not be concerned with having a clean and organized home, I have a husband, an 8 year old child and 200 pound dog that makes my house a zoo from all angles! Once set up we will discuss your main concerns, go over your intake form to give you a chance to explain anything in more detail, I will explain the interrelationship of the pelvic area, respiratory diaphragm, and spine (to include the soft tissue, organ systems, and muscles)! Next we will begin the hands on exam where I will start with an external assessment to include body alignment (postural and skeletal symmetry), muscle strength and tone, respiratory diaphragm and breathing patterns, etc. Afterward the internal exam, with your consent and as time allows, will be completed. The internal exam is to assess the function and tone of your pelvic floor muscles which are often a significant contributing factor to your main concerns. The final part of your visit will be to discuss my findings, develop a plan of care with you, educate on bladder and bowel habits with helpful pointers, demonstrate and instruct on body mechanics pertaining to your daily life, instruct on breathing patterns, instruct on any stretches and/or exercises that will benefit you, and ensure before I leave that you are on a journey to restoring you!
